Course Description

BUNDING is a containment method to prevent hazardous substances from causing environmental harm. It is therefore essential that bunds are correctly managed.

Instructor: Bob Sutcliffe

Bob´s first job was with the Railway Technical Centre in Derby, England from 1973 to 1985. His main role was the design of railway bogies for export and the theoretic aspects of rail/wheel interaction. Bob was placed on the Accelerated Graduate Programme to ensure a suitable mix of experience in order to gain Chartered Status; this was achieved in 1985.

Between 1985 and 1990 was working with Dowty Group and involved the design and testing of hydraulic roof supports for mining. Bob then joined Pafec Limited (1985 to 1990) to help develop their CAD/CAM system for use in the engineering industry. Following a re-organisation at Pafec, Bob joined Smallworld System, Cambridge to help develop their GIS package for the electricity industry. This was followed by a period at Perot Systems to set up and manage a data capture centre using Smallworld GIS to capture electricity schematics.
In 1995 Bob joined the staff at the Business School in Nottingham Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University) as a lecturer in Strategic Management.
In 1996 Bob moved to Ireland with his family and set up an Environmental and Engineering Consultancy. Bob is the Technical Director and has an active interest in energy management, and management system development. Bob is the honorary membership secretary for EMPI (Energy Management Professionals Ireland), the body representing energy professionals in Ireland.
