Course Description
FOUL WATER can contain harmful substances and not all such substances can deal be dealt with effectively by waste water treatment systems. The course is available in two levels, standard and advanced to ensure that it appropriate for the particular group attending.
Course Content
- Definition of foul water and how it differs from surface water
- Typical foul water drainage systems and colour coding
- Legal obligations and discharge permits *
- Methods of disposing of foul water
- Septic tanks
- Sewers
- Reed beds
- Control of foul water
- Substances not permitted to be discharged to foul
- Volume discharge limits
- Analysis of substances in foul water *
- Typical emission limits *
- Use of trigger and action values *
- What to do if exceed emission limits *
- Need for regular assessments/inspections *
- Interceptors
- Inspections of piping (If desired, a test using multiple choice questions can be administered.)
